Pigeon River Recovery Project Methodology

There are many different field techniques involved in the Pigeon River Recovery Project. Different types of techniques are used throughout the various stages of the project.

Techniques used to collect, rear, tag, and relocate fish include:

  • backpack electroshocking
  • seining
  • kick-seining
  • VIE Tagging
  • Oxygenation of transport tanks
  • Anesthesia
  • Captive propagation

Techniques used to monitor the recovery project:
