| Welcome to the University of Tennessee-Knoxville! Whether you are a current student or interested in becoming one, this site will provide all the information you need about the Spring Camp Program. Every Junior in the Wildlife and Fisheries Science Program must complete Spring Camp during their Junior year here at UTK. So, what is Spring Camp all about? Check out the links to find the answer to this question and much more. |

The
Wildlife and Fisheries Science Spring Camp is an intensive field oriented
learning experience. The camp is headquartered out of the UT campus but students spend many days in the field with hands-on learning in wildland settings. These field studies occur during the spring
semester of a wildlife and fisheries science student's junior year.
Students must apply for progression into upper division wildlife and
fishery classes at the end of their sophomore year. Progression is
required for spring camp participation. |
 |
Classes
include: Human Dimensions of Wildlife and Fisheries, Prescribed Fire
Management, Wetlands Ecology and Management, Law Enforcement and Public Relations, Wildlife Damage Management,
Wildlife Techniques, and Fisheries Techniques. These classes total 16
credit hours. The Camp is highly time consuming running 8am-5pm
Monday-Friday with numerous overnight and weeklong field trips, and sometimes even overnight camp-outs. |
 |
Due to
extensive traveling an additional fee of $400 is required. Spring
Camp requires dedication by the students involved. The experiences
build livelong bonds between students, professors and professionals.
This camp interacts extensively with biologists and managers from private, state and
federal wildlife agencies. It provides an invaluable hands-on
experience that gives students the cutting edge needed to successfully
compete for employment in our competitive field. |
