Fisheries Techniques

Course Description:
This class is designed to provide the student with practical experience in the theory and application of present-day fisheries sampling and management techniques. Field techniques emphasized in this course are those that are more commonly used by resource management agencies today and those which students may be expected to master as future employees. During some lectures and numerous field exercises, field biologists from various state and federal agencies will be present to lend their expertise.
Course Overview:
In Fisheries Techniques students acquired the knowledge of both boat and backpack electroshocking, seining, trawling, gill netting, cast netting, trap netting and a variety of vital techniques used in a field setting. Trips included:
