Human Dimensions in Wildlife and Fisheries

Course Objectives:

To gain a broad understanding of opportunities available to wildlife and fisheries professionals and agencies in carrying out public relations.

To learn how to present natural resource stories to the public and stakeholder groups to make wildlife and fisheries program successful.

To learn how to present news into the media in various formats:  radio, TV, newspaper, magazines.

Class Overview   

     In this class you will have the opportunity to sit in on technical seminars involving a variety of speakers who specialized in media related topics.  The class will also attend a TVA public meeting in order to fully understand how vital communication between public and private sectors is to accomplishing a desired goal. 

    Various assignments included a news release, letter to the editor of a newspaper and comprehensive field notebook of the entire spring camp experience.
